Usurped by sheep

I think I am quite popular at home but once a year, every year, my place seems to be taken by sheep. It’s not one particular sheep just animals of an Ovine nature, specifically Herdwick sheep.

Now as I am always one to educate I did a quick google check on my understanding of Ovine and yes, I am correct, it means

Why they would want to associate with an animal of ‘low intelligence’ I don’t know but so they do…

How does this manifest itself, well they leave me behind and head for somewhere called The Lake District which is miles away and seems to be infested with these creatures.

So I think, apart from sheep watching (which sounds pretty boring to me), they did a few other things. My dad climbed the highest mountain in England, Scafell Pike. Here he is at the top of England!

Needless to say mum didn’t go. She went shopping!! More of that later.

Mum did climb a couple of Fells. She did Loughrigg Fell (but there is no actual photographic evidence of this 😕 ). And she did Black Crag – where they did at least get a snap.

I did allow them to take my can-oo so that got a couple of outings on the famous lakes. Here they are on Coniston.

However you can rest assured I was never far from their minds and they did bring a present back for me. I think I’d quite like to visit this shop where their merchandise seems to have a very doggy theme. You may remember the ‘Bad Dog No Biscuit’ t-shirt mum acquired last year. Well this has now been supplemented by a mug. And as you can see a couple of biscuits came with it, it seems I’m clearly not a bad dog because I did get to eat them 🙂

Here I am waiting in anticipation

Going

Going (I like to keep the carpet clean)

Gone (and all in a matter of seconds! It’s a service I provide   )

And as for those pesky sheep, well see what came back post the shopping trip – these are Herdy goodies which are taking over the kitchen (otherwise known as my bedroom). I am all for supporting the local economy but I’d really rather mum spent more in the doggy shop than the Herdy shop 😕

What of me – well I holidayed, as usual, with friends on the posh side of Wokingham. I had fun and mum says it saved me attempting to clean up after all those sheep which I would, of course, have felt duty bound to do. Plus I didn’t want to climb England’s highest mountain or go shopping for that matter, so the arrangement suits all round.

Anyway, having got the sheep out of their system for another year I am as always top dog and I am making the most of it.

I hope you are enjoying the sunshine dear reader.

Love
